Week Three: Chocolate Chip Cookies.

Who doesn’t love a good chocolate chip cookie?  My 16 year old cookie taster complained that I keep making “unusual” cookies and I should make some chocolate chip.  Well, today she got her wish.

 

 

 

 

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cup flour

1/2 cup sugar

1/4 cup brown sugar, packed

1 tsp vanilla

2/3 cup shortening (I used margarine)

1 egg

1 tsp salt

1 tsp soda

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1/2 cup chopped nuts (I didn’t put these in)

Mix sugars, egg, vanilla, and shortening together until blended.  Add flour and dry ingredients, mixing well.  

 

 

 

 

Add chocolate chips (and nuts if you’re so inclined) and mix.

 

 

 

Good enough to lick.

 

 

 

 

Bake at 475 degrees for 8-10 minutes, or until lightly browned.

True, chocolate chip cookies aren’t really a challenge, but they are delicious.  I usually prefer my chocolate chip cookies with some molasses in them, but these came out nice and crisp on the outside and chewy in the middle.  Success!
